René Laloux on minulle siitä ongelmallinen ohjaaja, että hänen elokuviensa maailmat ja öttiäiset ovat aivan mielettömän upeita ja mielikuvituksellisia, mutta ihmishahmot (lähes aina siis päähenkilöt) ovat aivan jäätävän jähmeitä pallinaamoja, jotka on animoitu luokattoman tönkösti. Gandahar ei ole poikkeus tähän. Aikamatkustusaivovuori ja totalitaristinen kukkaihmisten tappaminen ovat kiinnostavia juttuja, mutta ihmishahmojen Kurt Russell syömässä paskaa -ilmeily "
